if you love me, buy me bowie vinyl
I am learning. Reading a review on iTunes … goes like so: “I’m 15 and am into hardcore metal like cannibal corpse and slipknot, but even i like these songs. i first heard “Space Oddity” on Mr. Deeds, and asked my mom about it. She told me what it was called and stuff, but then i heard it on the radio” So, naturally, I clicked “more.”  More = ...

Fun!
mollypool: Wellbutrin, taken for ADHD, can cause dizziness, agitation, anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia. I have all of those. At least I know it’s the drugs and I’m not actually crazy! Vyvanse is expensive, but sooooo awesome.  Tried it yet?

Beer.
I’m 26 and I live at home, as in, with my parents. I’m also finishing up my B.A. this May.  I graduated from high school eight years ago. My parents used to keep lots of beer in the fridge.  But, for fear of my 16-year-old brother’s binge drinking habits, they no longer have any beer in the house.  If I wanted any, they said, I’d have to buy it myself.  But, not only am I...

And another thing ...
I’m currently taking a four week class over interterm called “Reporting California.”  It’s all about the history of California, how the state government functions, and what a journalism career in California looks like today. So we had some reading over the weekend.  It was a chapter out of a book by Lincoln Steffens, written probably 70 years ago or more.  The instructor...

New favorite dead guy: Ambrose Bierce
From one of Ambrose Bierce’s Town Crier columns in The San Francisco News-Letter, where he worked as managing editor for some time starting in 1868: “Some raging iconoclast, after having overthrown religion by history, upset history by science, and then toppled over science, has now laid his impious hands upon babies’ nursing bottles. “The tubes of these infernal...

to vigilance
frontierindex: this winter i am recommitting myself to my annual winter goal of not alienating any friends! let’s hope this winter is more successful than last year, which was perhaps the biggest failure in the five or so years that I’ve held this goal? things got gory. anyway, here’s hoping i can at least maintain the status quo of friends that I have. the thing is that i get fairly cranky and...

Lesson of the day
Homework can be fun when the following three conditions are met: 1. It’s cold outside and you have a fireplace and you use it. 2. You have a bottle of wine and a pretty wine glass, which you also use. 3. You have Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue,” and you listen to it at the perfect volume, whatever that may be for you. Going back to school (I’m 26, finishing my B.A....

Day ? of no meds - slutnuts
dream 1. from last night: Sara and I already paid the deposit on the university club, where the reception will be, and it’s non-refundable.  Alls a sudden, they move the date on us, to today.  Sara’s mom is majorly P.O.’d, but we have the wedding anyway.  Either that or we’re out $3,500.  Naturally, we can’t get the invites out in time.  Now, everybody hates us for...

Day 2 of no meds - Assfest
I said two wonderful things in the past week. 1.  “So, if we were to create a slogan for the state of Ohio based on its produce, we would say: ‘Ohio … Not special.’” 2.  “Forecast for Ohio for the rest of eternity: Worse than California.” Seriously though, no meds.  Assfest.
